Ping Jitter Test is a simple way to check how quickly and consistently your internet connection responds to network requests. Ping, also called latency, is normally measured in milliseconds (ms). A lower ping generally means that data can travel between your device and the test server with less delay.
Jitter is different from average ping. It measures how much the latency changes between individual measurements. For example, if your connection repeatedly produces results around 25 ms, the connection is relatively consistent. If results jump between 20 ms, 80 ms, 30 ms and 100 ms, the connection has much more variation and therefore higher jitter.

These ranges are general guidelines rather than strict standards. A connection with 60 ms ping and stable jitter may feel better than a connection that occasionally reaches 20 ms but frequently jumps to 150 ms or more.
Ping represents network response time. It is measured in milliseconds. Lower values normally indicate faster response between your device and the selected server.
Jitter represents variation in latency. Consistent readings produce lower jitter, while large changes between consecutive measurements produce higher jitter.
Minimum ping is the fastest latency measurement recorded during the current test. It can help show the best response your connection achieved during testing.
Maximum ping is the highest latency measurement recorded. A large difference between minimum and maximum ping can indicate an unstable connection or temporary network congestion.
High ping can happen for many reasons. The physical distance between your device and the test server is one important factor. A server located far away may naturally produce higher latency than a nearby server.
Network congestion can also increase latency. When many devices are using the same broadband connection, packets may experience additional waiting time. Background downloads, cloud synchronization, video streaming and software updates can therefore affect a Ping Jitter Test.
WiFi interference is another common cause. Walls, distance from the router, crowded wireless channels and other electronic devices can affect wireless performance. Testing with Ethernet can help determine whether the issue is related to the wireless connection.
Start by moving closer to your WiFi router or using a wired Ethernet connection. Pause large downloads, cloud backups and high-bandwidth streaming while testing. Restarting the router can also help when the network device has been running for a long time.
